Great interview!!! I love how honest he always is. No rah rah bits. He really nailed the Tony Stewart item.
I did wish he mentioned the Pocono Race with Silver crown cars mixed in for 1981. The final USAC IndyCar race.
That is still a very bad item used against a return to Pocono for IndyCars. I do feel a bold and fresh approach could make Pocono work as a Labor Day race, and maybe Macy’s countdown to thanksgiving.
I’m working on a site to put the whole pitch up.
As for Danica in NASCAR. Look at the “SceneDaily” article on Danica & Milka in a ARCA race. THe comments section swiftly become more of a dare I say “Aryan Man” diatribe. (Including a claim defaming the Late 1980 Indy Roy Tim Richmond, very shameful, big reason I left being a stock car guy!)
While I tire of the “Danicapalooza” coverage and press she gets for her and not the racing. I feel she is making the wrong move, she will be the media darlin, but the fans heel.
Juan Montoya is very hated in NASCAR, but their logic is “he is a punk, who pushes people around”. Last I checked they have about 30 white men who do the same, it’s called “NASCAR racing”!
You can sense a real disapointment in Miller’s voice over 2012 Danica in the #5.
I do think Miller and everyone have a short memory on Sarah Fisher. Who also proved she could run up front her first time around. Maybe she will run better in 2010 with a newer car.
I also look forward to the radical new look he spoke of. A wild turbo car would be a great sight at Pocono with that HUGE front stretch.
And my bad, 1981 Pocono was the last USAC Gold Crown race, and last NON-Indy 500 USAC sanctioned race for IndyCars.
Here is a website with the pics and paper clipings of the debacle from 1981.
