By now I’m sure you all have heard that former IRL driver Scott Sharp suffered a massive shunt at Petit Le Mans practice yesterday. He clipped the back of a slower GT car as it exited the pits and launched into the catch fencing. Scott and the other driver along with several spectators nearby (including our beloved Lindy Thackston) all walked away unscathed. The video is below.

Well, the Grand-Am test at Indy came and went, and to be honest, I don’t think that they should even have had the opportunity to test at such hallowed grounds, but hey, what do I know?
Now, don’t get me wrong, Grand-Am boasts some of the best racing around (of course, World Challenge, ALMS, DTM, V8 Supercars, any open wheel series, TDI Cup, GT3 Cup and IMSA Lites all go before it in my chain [and if I have forgotten any series, please let me know]), but to put Grand-Am at Indy is like asking a single A baseball team to play their home season at Wrigley Field, it is not a good fit. There is way too much prestige and honor that goes into the Speedway, and the series that race there. And in case you are wondering, yes I still am leery at the fact that NASCAR races there, over 15 years later, though maybe I should accept the fact and move on, but for some reason, I can’t.
